Thanks for checking out some of my string arranging and recording work.
Strings for Kehlani.
I had the pleasure of recording violin and co-arranging the string part for this beautiful song by Kehlani, featuring Thundercat and Ambré. I was living in Philadelphia and randomly got connected with CJ Branch, a keyboard player and producer. I went over to his place and we cooked up a nice string part for this gorgeous piece. I come in around 1:44 on the bridge.
Sp*tify playlist.
This playlist is quite a dynamic and diverse collection of songs, which makes me happy. My involvement with each project was equally varied. For some of the songs, I produced, mixed, and played a few different instruments on them. For others, I arranged and recorded strings or even just recorded string parts that someone else arranged.
“OUTGROWN”
The incredible vocalist and composer and sweet friend Mingjia Chen arranged the strings on this track. So nice!!
Cecilia Ferneborg.
Cecilia is an absolute menace of a songwriter! Also a dog trainer!! Big orchestral string section sound on “Clarity”! Check out this rad music video Cecilia made to go along with this banger of a song.
“Whale Song”
This is a real sizzler of a tune. Lots of fun string textures. Listen for the seagulls from Carolina Diazgranados’ cello!
Dogwood Last.
I am lucky to collaborate regularly with an incredible collective of musicians and pals led by my dear friend Kory Burrell. Check out everything he’s done, especially Dogwood’s record, Time Follows, which they made before I joined the project.
I’ve added string bits to many of Dogwood Last’s singles, including “Park Slope,” “29 (Endings),” and “Halfway.”
“29 (Endings)”
One of my favorite Dogwood tunes. You can listen for some super effected strings toward the end of this track.
“Halfway”
Gorgeous tune written by Matt Jernigan and Kory Burrell. I just threw in a little string action toward the end.
Modern Ties.
I had a blast arranging and recording some strings for this beautiful tune by Modern Ties. Some good lads.
Omar’s Hat.
When it comes to laying it down, the musicians in Philly are some of the heaviest in the world, and this band is a perfect example of that. I didn’t arrange these strings but had a blast recording them.
Trap Rabbit.
Logan Roth and Arjun Dube (AKA Trap Rabbit) are always making something very cool. It was a honor to add some textures and sounds to a few tracks on their EP All the Best.
Tyler Sensenig.
Beautiful, earnest, folky tunes from Tyler. It was such a delight to play on these heart-warming—and sometimes haunting—songs.
SHIKHAR.
Shikhar is an amazing songwriter, guitarist, and harmonica player. Delighted to have added some strings on two tracks of his debut EP, Voyager.
Cameron Coiro.
Cam is a crazy songwriter and vocalist! So happy to have added some strings into his beautiful music. Produced by Kory Burrell!
Lourose.
It was a treat to toss a few strings onto this beautiful song by my lovely friend Lourose! We’ve been writing a bunch of songs together, as well. Stay tuned!
V. Shayne Frederick.
I had a blast arranging this tango-inspired string quartet part for Shayne’s cover of this classic tune!
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
It was a delight playing violin in the Bismuth Quartet and recording for this beautiful album by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
mitamu.
It was a joy to play violin for this beautiful string quartet arrangement that mitamu did for the Bismuth Quartet! Such beautiful music.
Sophie Coran.
Gorgeous song by Sophie Coran! I had the pleasure of playing violin for this lovely arrangement she did.
